Apple and Google dominance limits competition and choice

So Apple and Google have a duopoly ie just two companies are dominating a particular market.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have started an investigation over concerns that the two. companies have too much control. They control the OS (ie iOS and Android), the app stores (ie App Store and Play Store), and even the web browsers (Safari and Chrome). Put all these together and each company has their own ‘eco-system’.

When you buy a mobile phone, you really don’t have a choice, you have to go with either Apple iOS or the Google Android eco-system. They then essentially control the whole spectrum of how users receive content.

This should be an interesting read when the CMA release their results!
